Making Money From Calling and Phone Cards

There are very few money making schemes that involve little or no work.  Actually scratch that, there are no schemes I know of that involve no work, if there were we’d all be sitting around making money and getting fat and lazy from doing nothing but get rich!  Obviously if you are aware of a money making scheme that involves no work and would like to share you know how to reach me ;)

I do know of one scheme that involves very minimal work and that is selling prepaid phone cards.  Now, I’m not talking about going round shops trying to hawk shiny bits of plastic… This scheme involves an initial outlay of around US$6.99/UK£4.75 and 2 hours of your time to set up, which includes time to make and drink a couple of cups of tea, coffee or whatever it is people choose to drink while working.

Interested?  I thought you might be. Here’s the 2 things you need to do:

OK, now I’m assuming you’ll read this before actually signing up for anything but no matter, Step 1 will just make more sense if I explain what you’re actually doing.  When you sign up to the Own Shop Program you get yourself a fully loaded website that you don’t have to maintain.  If you want to see what I mean visit www.CheapoPhoneCards.com and look at what you’re signing up to.  Don’t like the layout? Don’t worry you have a choice of a dozen or so templates that you can use straight out the box or if you’re so inclined you can design a custom layout.  But essentially all the coding and rates are maintained for you so you really can set it and forget it!

So, what happens once you sign up?  Well, you decide on a name for your shop, select a template or customise it and then advertise it and wait for the commission to roll in.  Right that sounds a little too easy you’re thinking and you may be right but then again you may be wrong, let me explain more…

When you initially name your shop it’s allocated as a sub-domain and has a pretty unattractive look e.g. cheapophonecards-com.pushline.com That’s why I suggested you invested that $6.99 in a domain name.  Once your domain is registered you simply change the nameservers as detailed in your account and then email the support team and let them know your domain name and your shop name and ask them to link it up.  Then instead of ugly old cheapophonecards-com.pushline.com you get www.CheapoPhoneCards.com

OK, now all that’s left is to advertise your site.  Now, this can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be, stickers, leaflets, postcards, links from your blog, website, forum and email signatures and good old Pay Per Click advertising.  Now, you’re probably thinking, “Wait a minute, advertising costs money, I thought you said all I needed was $6.99?” You’re right, I did say that. GoogleAds, Microsoft, Facebook and just about every PPC advertiser offers free ads to get you started.  With a little bit of searching you should be able to get yourself anything from $50 to $100 of free advertising to get you started.

The beauty of the program is that once you have a customer, you have them for life so every time they return to your site and buy another phone card you get more commission.  As I said, with very little effort you can have a residual income trickle in but with a little more effort that trickle can become a flood.  My first 3 commission payments were:

  • Month 1: $10 (that covered the domain)
  • Month 2: $31
  • Month 3: $143

not bad for an initial outlay of $7 for the domain, a few hours setting up the site and creating a Google Adwords account and using a free £25 (US$36) voucher I got in a computer magazine.  So you see, even if I had spent my own money at Google within 3 months I had turned a $43 outlay into a $141 profit and I’m doing very little work to generate it.

So, there you have it. There’s one way to turn US$7/£4.75 a year into approximately US$1740/£1183 with very little effort…just think what you can generate with a little more work??

So what are you waiting for?  Sign up to the Own Shop Program, get a domain and make some money!
